About the Author

Wicked Good Secrets, Janice Law’s fifth book, is a fast-paced fiction thriller.

In the flashy, cinematic style of National Treasure hit films, Wicked Good Secrets discloses how a wicked secret double- encrypted in an 18th century diary intersects dramatically with 16th century Vatican art under the U.S. Capitol dome from which a gadfly journalist plunges to his death.

Law teams a former criminal court judge with an Indian chief to unravel America's most stubborn historic mystery: the two-century old disappearance of the U.S. Capitol cornerstone.

Dangerous clues climax in a dark, isolated Washington, D.C. cemetery where human and nonhuman forces threaten the duo's investigation and their lives.

Judge Law's 2006 nonfiction book Yield: A Judge's Fir$t-Year Diary, was a finalist for one of Texas' major literary awards, presented in the state capitol building in Austin as part of the 2007 Texas Book Festival. Yield also won an Honorable Mention in a 2007 national writing competition sponsored by Public Safety Writers.

Yield is a shocking daily diary of her first tumultuous year on the county criminal court bench in Houston, Texas.

Yield and Law's 2005 nonfiction book Sex Appealed: Was the U.S. Supreme Court Fooled? have been featured several times on CSpan2/BOOK TV. In Sex Appealed, Law discovered a still-unsolved murder of one of the participants in Lawrence v. Texas, an internationally publicized sodomy case that went from her court to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Texas Bar selected Capitol Cat & Watch Dog Unite Lady Freedoms for their statewide Law-Related Education program for Texas teachers. Janice Law spoke in Austin about Capitol Cat & Watch Dog to a Texas teachers conference hosted by The Texas Bar.

Strangers in Blood: Distanced Lives (2007), Sex Appealed and Yield were all selected by a committee of journalists for the National Press Club's annual Book Fair & Author Night gala in Washington, D.C. She is a featured author at national book festivals, and taught nonfiction writing at a seminar preceding the Ann Arbor (Michigan) book festival.

Law writes from her unique position as a former criminal court judge, federal and state prosecutor, criminal defense--and print journalist. Before becoming an attorney, she worked for 14 years as a journalist, including as a stringer for The New York Times.

Her journalistic work is included in Professional Newswriting by Dr. Hiley Ward, (1985) Harcourt Brace Jovanovich; The Mass Media by Dr. William L. Rivers (1975) Harper and Row; and The Effete Conspiracy and Other Crimes by the Press by Ben H. Bagdikian (1972) Harper and Row. She currently serves as a visiting judge.
